collegefair

One way to jumpstart your college search.

If you are having the sense that you should be doing something to get started with college planning, but don’t know what to do first, here is one fun way to get things going.

NACAC, the National Association of College Admission Counsellors (in the U.S.) runs a number of College (University) Fairs throughout the year. Given the influence of Covid, NACAC and other associations have refined the art of offering these fairs virtually. And they are still FREE. All you need to do is register online, and then sign in on the day of the event.

Great benefits to attending a college fair:

* College matching – you can run a list of colleges that may suit you, based on a few filters such as geographic area, academic interests, or type of institution, to give you a more narrowed focus for the event and identify colleges which may be new to you

* Colleges attending the fair are from all over the globe – the US, UK, Canada, and beyond

* Educational sessions – you can attend sessions to learn about the various steps in applying for admission to colleges in different systems or countries, as well as pathways to careers, and other information

* College presentations – you can learn about financial aid and scholarships, the basics of preparing and making applications and more

* Connect directly with an individual college on the spot, watch their specific presentations, and even chat with the representative, or schedule a virtual meeting with them for a later date

And there is one today – February 24, 2022! Register here, or, if you can’t attend this one, you can register for another fair coming up (or an in-person fair as another option in some locations): https://www.nacacattend.org/22virtualstem/1716010
